Structural Massage
What is Structural Massage Therapy?
Structural Massage does utilize some techniques that feel similar to deep tissue massage. The difference is Structural Massage focuses more on the fascia than the muscle, not only where you are feeling pain and tension, but at other key points on your body as well.
This blend of advanced bodywork promotes the deepest level of fascial alignment and a variation of different pressure techniques, making it ideal for pain dysfunctions and corrections within the body.
Fascia is like a 3D spiderweb throughout the body that surrounds and holds every organ, blood vessel, bone, nerve fiber and muscle in place. Without the fascia our muscles would not have a structure. Fascia is designed to stretch as you move. But there are certain things that cause fascia to thicken and become sticky. When it dries up and tightens around muscles, it can limit mobility and cause painful knots to develop.
Structural Massage works by releasing and reorganizing your body’s fascia, helping to reduce chronic pain, soreness, and tension.
BENEFITS OF STRUCTURAL MASSAGE THERAPY:
- Improved blood flow to the affected region
- Increased range of motion and flexibility
- Improved posture
- Relief from inflammation
- Reduce soreness and help assist the tissue recovery process
- Correction of muscle imbalances
- Suppression/reduction of trigger point sensitivity and pain
how the fascial system moves and pulls on the body
Fascia does more than provide internal structure; fascia has nerves that make it almost as sensitive as skin. When stressed, it tightens up. Keeping your fascia healthy has many benefits. You’ll move more easily, have better range of motion and experience less pain.
